If I Had a Million Dollars for a House

So it seems as though I've become very interested in interior design as of late. Scratch that, I've always been really interested in it and I thought that I'd actually major in it and study it in school. But unfortunately my school doesn't offer anything of fashion or interior design. I've consistantly had the notion that "when I grow up" I'd have this great apartment or house and fill it with really cute stuff that I personally picked out at a cute, trendy store and or scavenged for at a garage sale or antique shop. I'd make my own decorative pillows and putting up my own artwork around the walls, painting them (the walls) whatever color I like, and having a rec room where my friends are all allowed to write or paint on one of the walls. Carpets would cover the floors except in the kitchen, baths, and one of the common rooms. There would be a drawing/receiving room for guests where we can drink tea and write letters and there would be large French windows everywhere. And outside those windows a balcony woul hang, with full room to promenade on. I would love for this house to be stone, but in the U.S. stone is either very expensive or has to be imported from Europe so I don't think that will be a very viable option. Also there will be a dog or two of some sort trotting around the estate.

Hey guys! So today is the first official day of my effort to complete the "Blog Every Day in April" challenge. I hope not to fall behind and I expect some of my entries will be a bit emo and or short but that's beside the point. The point it that it gets me to write something every day.

So today's topic: Wallpaper.

I have recently discovered the joy of having fun pictures and patterns on my walls. It's just so delightful to look up and have six different colors with unique and cute patterns all over. I also recently discovered Archivers, a scrap booking and paper store. How this relates, I will tell you in a moment.

Here it is. Paper from a scrap booking store does not always have to be used for what it was made for. No where does it say that you HAVE to use colorful, patterned paper to fill up an 8x8 book of memories. Here's what I've done to the place!

Bright Star: The First Emo Couple

With about ten other English Literature interested people I took part in a movie watching event which was the film Bright Star. This film features the three or four years of English poet John Keats' life while he was in love with Fanny Brawne. It has a very melancholy tone overall, at some points crossing over into the "emo" ton we identify with in today's youth culture. It is a BBC movie so the period dress is excellent as well as the actors, though Fanny Brawne's character takes a little time to get acquainted with.

The music in the movie is wonderfully passionate, its captures the emotion of the moment as well as the overarching love story between the Keats and Brawne. Though the entire score lasts just over 23 minutes it has the emotional level of a full length film. That being said...there are a couple pieces within the score that will have listeners questioning the composer's musical ear. Other than that little bit, the music is fantastic! It is especially nice to hear such great composition from a somewhat up-and-coming composer (Mark Bradshaw). He has done other films, but is not as well know as say, Hans Zimmer or Harry-Gregson Williams (Sherlock Holmes and Narnia respectively).

I recommend this film to anyone who has read any of Keats' poetry, or has visited his home, done major Keats' studies, etc., or to anyone who might enjoy a meloncholy, slightly darker-than-usual romantic story line with fantastic costuming and tone. It will be both entertaining and educational, a lot of Keats' poetry is directly worked into the story and integrated with the score, one mirrors the other.

Overall I'd rate this film as 3 out of 5 stars. Definitely see is sometime, but make sure you're in a thinking mood, ready to watch something that might need reflection instead of instant entertainment gratification.
