The first one happened on the way home from work on a Friday night. Maybe the excitement of the beginning of another weekend was just too much for someone to handle and they got carried away or something. As I was driving down a straight-shot street I was going passed a cop car and immediately checked my speed. I was fine, even a little under the limit. As I excellerated a tad I came up on a black SUV and we drove together for a few seconds. Knowing the cop car was somewhere behind me I didn't dare speed up. All of a sudden I noticed nightclub-like red and blue lights flashing in my rear view mirror and I freaked out a little. I triple checked my speed, no change, I was still okay. So why was this cop flashing his lights? I kept driving, more cautious and slower than before hoping he wasn't after me. Thankfully he was in the other lane behind me and so the black SUV I was paired up with pulled over and the cop followed and stopped. Whew!
The second time happened just tonight on the same road, but this time it was more bazaar (sp?) of an event than the previous. I was driving as normal, speed was fine and I was in the middle of my lane when a cop car passed me. Remembering the last encounter I slowed a little and watched where it went. It kind of just seemed to be out cruisin' the area lookin' for riff-raff. Then another cop car passed me, this one with its lights on. What the heck? Okay well they're probably off to somewhere. But instead of speeding up they slowed down at an intersection, almost appearing lost or like their GPSs malfunctioned and they suddenly had to actually know their way around. As they were slowing at the intersection I saw another cop car drive through the intersection from the street perpendicular to the one we were on and continue down the street. Ok, now I knew something was up somewhere. As my grandma, and Hamlet always said, "There's something rotten in the state of Denmark."
Expecting the two cars that had passed me to naturally turn and follow the other one I kind of stopped paying close attention. Until I noticed that one of the cars has literally stopped and seemed to be parked in wait mid-turn to follow the other cars. The headlights still on, nothing else appearing wrong, it just sat and waited for something. By this time I was almost at the intersection and was turning the opposite direction of the cars so I couldn't watch to see what would unfold. I assume the waiting car was prowling around looking for someone on foot, or perhaps just pulled off to wait for another car to come who would pull up the rear of this chase of sorts. I don't know, and I never will. But it was weird, I'll tell you that one.
Thanks for reading!
