Possible Selves

So in my psychology class today we watched this video that overviewed the basics of the first personality tests and different ways of measuring the behaviors that are typically associated with certain personalities. And towards the end of it one of the professors started in on something called "Possible Selves" which is apparently all of the people and things you dream of doing when you finish the sentence, "When I grow up I want to...". So I began thinking of a few of the possible selves I have.

1) Stunt Double Self: The action packed, bone breaking, too risky for any insurance company to cover self. I've always wanted to try running through fake glass and jumping out a window, or being harnessed into something and pretending to fall 30 stories or get to jump off a moving platform just in time to catch the edge of the passing car. Even leaping onto a flame-proof mattress just in the nick (sp?) of time whilst a flame-filled building suddenly explodes and forces me down. One thing this self really wants to try is being blown backwards from the force of an explosion after running towards it unsuspectingly. Anyways, there's a little "B.A." in this self.

2) Actress Self: The uninhibited, dramatic, just not cheesy, talented, stage-comfortable, talking-in-front-of-people comfortable, beautiful, classy, actress looking sassy in red. I can always ham it up with friends and family, but once it comes to doing something on a stage or even in a classroom where there's other people watching me and I have to talk, I just freeze up and hyper ventilate. This is where this self would come in handy. I would lure in all the classy actors and charm people with my natural wit and...charm. People would like me and I would be confident in pretending to be someone else.

3) The Cuisine Self: This self always cooks something new each week, has a top of the line kitchen and dishwasher, orders groceries online and has then delivered to my door. Some of it's organic, some of it's regular. My kitchen floor is marble or tiled but has a heating system below to keep my toes toasty in the mornings. This self is not afraid to try something new and knows all the old recipes by heart. I entertain my friends with flair and everyone compliments me on my wonderful and tasty appetizers. Wine is something I know much about and always have it on hand, with of course, champagne for those in favor of a little bubbly.

4) Small Business Owner Self: This is the self that I'm most attracted to. Probably because it is the most reasonable and possibly even attainable with help. This self would own a small yet adorably whimsical boutique on a Grand Avenue in some artsy city. White Christmas lights would hang year round outside in a dainty display of shimmer. The whole store would look like someone's studio apartment decorated with their artwork and the work of their friends. Cute knick-knacks would sit on the cute shelves, and multiple patterns and multiple colors would adorn the walls. Throw rugs and artisan rugs alike would cover the wooden floors and small islands of multi-tied tables would sell their wares throughout the store. The occasional column would, for a moment, interrupt a line of sight but then guide the eye upwards because of the ivy wrapped around it. Somehow the store itself would seem to have grown up from the parking lot and into this tea-serving, bow-loving, adorable, and popular, street corner boutique.

What are your Possible Selves?

a) I completely agree with Stunt Double Self. Mine would be tweeked a little, and I'd want to be a stunt DRIVER. Awesome.
b) Coffee shop owner self.
c) Totally immoral hooker self/using a sugar daddy self. Seriously... you're beautiful, and treated as a commodity. I don't think life can get better.
d) Artist self. I love artists...
